Sports Jawn explores how sports have shaped Philadelphia’s identity through the places where the city has gathered to witness, cheer, argue, mourn, and celebrate together. From storied ballparks like Baker Bowl, Shibe Park/Connie Mack Stadium, and Veterans Stadium to the legends who made those arenas unforgettable, the exhibition will show how Philadelphia’s stadiums have passed into civic mythology. Featuring artifacts connected to Mike Schmidt, Julius “Dr. J” Erving, Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Joel Embiid, and Dave “The Hammer” Schultz, Sports Jawn will use sports as a powerful lens on public life: the crowds, rituals, rivalries, loyalties, and shared memories that turn games into something larger. At its heart, the exhibition is about the freedom to gather – and the uniquely Philadelphian ways people show up, together, for the teams and stories that define them.
