The Art of the Word: A Creative Workshop with Word Powered Artist Shelley Brenner Baird | 11 am – 12:30 pm
For Word Powered exhibition artist Shelley Brenner Baird, words hold immense power and text has often been featured in her work. Recently, she has focused on campaign signs, deconstructing them and reconstructing the letters into new words and phrases. Learn more about Brenner Baird’s relationship with language and consider your own. Is there a word that holds power for you or one you think should be championed to the world? Using letters cut from political yard signs, visitors of all ages can create a letter mash-up of their own “power word” to take home.
Pop-Up Artist Talk with Shelley Brenner Baird | 12:30 pm – 1 pm
After the workshop, join us in the Word Powered exhibition gallery for a conversation with Shelley Brenner Baird as she discusses the inspiration and process behind her artworks “1st Amendment” and “Bad Dream.”
