Big Ideas for Little Learners: A Squiggly Story

June 2, 2022 | 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

A Squiggly Story book cover

Thursday, June 2nd 4pm & 5pm

Big Ideas for Little Learners is a literacy program for pre-schoolers and their families. Developed in partnership with the Early Childhood Education Center at the Salvation army Kroc Center, this program introduces “big ideas” — such as respect, empathy, courage — to our littlest learners.

In this session, we will revisit some of our Big Ideas with a read ‘n’ romp, A Squiggly Story by Andrew Larson and Mike Lowery followed by a series of drop-in activities for children and adults to begin creating our own storybook all about Lila Liberty. All participants will go home with one FREE book of their choosing as well as their story featured in our Big Ideas Self-Published Storybook. Suitable for children ages 3-8 and their grown-ups.

Big Ideas for Little Learners takes place monthly at the Kroc Center and explores book-based themes with children and their caregivers. We’ll read, create, and play together as we learn new ways of exploring books at home and as a family. Along the way, we’ll discover how each of us can help make the world a happier, more just, and equitable place. It is free to register and participate in this series. All programs include a read-aloud, hands-on activities, a reading corner, and refreshments. All participating families will receive a custom Take & Do bag with materials and resources to continue learning at home.

This program is supported by the William Penn Foundation in partnership with the Salvation Army Kroc Center.
