Each year, PARK(ing) Day invites cities around the country to rethink what public places can be by transforming parking spaces into miniature parks. As part of Philadelphia’s celebration, we will be hosting a pop-up experience in front of our building and offering pay-what-you-wish admission to the Museum. Join us as we explore freedom of speech through thought-provoking questions and collaborative interactives and take our latest exhibition Free Speech: Our Right, Our Responsibility to the streets.
PARK(ing) Day was founded in 2005 by Rebar, a San Francisco art and design studio, to raise awareness of the need for green spaces in urban environments. Philadelphia celebrated PARK(ing) Day for the first time in 2008 with over 25 installations for relaxing, cycling, artmaking, education, and socializing.
