Our Next Chapter in Storytelling: Meet Dr. Andrew Hammond
The National Liberty Museum is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Andrew Hammond as our new Senior Director for Content & Interpretation.
Dr. Hammond brings a remarkable blend of scholarly expertise, public engagement, and global perspective to this role. Most recently, the Historian & Curator at the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C., he also hosted the acclaimed podcast SpyCast, conducting over 200 interviews and earning a nomination for the People’s Choice Podcast Awards.
His career spans prestigious institutions including the Library of Congress (as a Kluge Fellow), the National September 11 Memorial & Museum (as a Public Humanities Fellow), and academic appointments at New York University, the British Library, and the University of Warwick. As a Senior Non-Resident Fellow at the Global National Security Institute, Dr. Hammond has provided expert commentary to major media outlets such as the BBC, CNN, and The Washington Post.
Before entering the cultural sector, Dr. Hammond served in the Royal Air Force, with intelligence assignments across the British Army and Royal Navy. It was during this time that his deep interest in liberty, freedom, and intelligence took root—interests that now guide his work in public history and interpretation.
Dr. Hammond holds a BA (First Class), an MA (Distinction), a PGCert in Teaching and Learning (Distinction), and a Ph.D. from the University of Warwick. We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Hammond to the National Liberty Museum, where his leadership will help us explore liberty in all its dimensions—past, present, and future.
