SUMMARY:Big Ideas for Little Learners: Little Red Writing
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, June 23rd 4pm & 5pm\nBig Ideas for Little Learners is a literacy program for pre-schoolers and their families. Developed in partnership with the Salvation Army Kroc Center and supported by the William Penn Foundation\, this program introduces “big ideas” — such as respect\, empathy\, courage — to our littlest learners. Suitable for children ages 3-8 and their grown-ups. It is FREE to participate in this program. \n  \nIn this session\, we will revisit some of our Big Ideas with a read ‘n’ romp\, Little Red Writing by Joan Holub\, followed by a series of drop-in activities for children and adults to continue creating our own storybook all about Lila Liberty. All participants will go home with one FREE book of their choosing as well as their story featured in our Big Ideas Self-Published Storybook. See below to learn how you can participate below! \n  \nWe are collecting hand-written and illustrated short stories to be published by studenttreasures.com. You and your little learner are welcome to create a story based on one of our six character traits that Lila Liberty helped teach us this year– responsibility\, respect\, perseverance\, courage\, integrity\, or empathy. Chat with your learner about a time where they showed one (or more!) of these traits. \nRequirements: \n\nNO crayons or pencils. Using a marker for writing and drawing will make sure the final product is legible.\nDraw your illustration on a half sheet of 8.5″x11″ paper and write your story on the other. This will give us room to design the storybook with more flexibility.\nALL stages of writing development are accepted- from scribbles to stick figures\, we want it all!\n\nTHE FIRST FIVE SUBMISSIONS WILL RECIEVE A FREE COPY OF OUR ANTHOLOGY! \n  \n\n Submit to the Anthology\n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n
