We’ve set a goal to impact 5,000 MORE kids through our Young Heroes Outreach Program (YHOP)… and with your help WE CAN!

Each school year, we send our educators directly into Philadelphia’s most underserved schools to teach students critical leadership skills, and empower them to use their First Amendment Rights to make positive changes in their school and community. This year our educators are teaching in twenty Title 1 schools, and more schools are waiting.

An excellent example of the power of the Young Heroes Outreach Program are the 4th graders from Tanner Duckrey Elementary School in North Philadelphia, who participated in YHOP two years ago. The issue they chose to tackle was bullying and fighting at their school, which they attributed to not having a safe place to play during recess.
See how the Duckrey 4th graders put their Young Heroes’ powers to work:

Please help us continue to change the lives of Philly Kids!

These Young Heroes made a persuasive argument for why every child deserves a safe place to play. I feel privileged to represent such an amazing school.

Even though you are a kid, you can make great things happen, or at least you can be the spark to ignite even greater things.

Philadelphia’s Freedom Exhibition Call to Artists

When the National Liberty Museum opened its doors twenty years ago just a block away from Independence Hall, it took on the mission to reinforce the basic principles for safeguarding liberty, including heroism, empathy, and the appreciation of diversity. For our upcoming exhibition, Philadelphia's Freedom, the National Liberty Museum invites artists from the City of Brotherly & Sisterly Love to submit artwork based on your own unique interpretation of freedom.

Philadelphia's Freedom will debut in the NLM's Live Like a Hero Gallery in the Summer/Fall of 2020. The deadline to apply is May 17.

Giveback Workshops

On the first Saturday of each month from 10:30-noon, the NLM partners with a selected mission-driven nonprofit to give parents and children the opportunity to work together to complete a “make-and-donate” activity for an important cause. This event is included with general admission, but registration is encouraged.
