Glass Techniques Examined

As you explore the galleries at the National Liberty Museum in historic Philadelphia, you’ll immediately recognize that glass art takes many different forms in the world of contemporary art.

There are many different ways to work with the medium of glass.  To help visitors appreciate the glass art they see, we have created an extensive exhibit called “Techniques.”  It features a selected body of work by renowned glass artists to show the different ways glass is used for art, including casting, cold-working, flame-working, glassblowing, fusing & slumping, and various experimental techniques.

Two of the works featured in this exhibit are shown above .  (Left) “Neptune” by Lucio Bubacco is an example of flame-worked glass. (Right) “Thistle bottle” by Carrie Gustafson is an example of blown and engraved glass.

All works in the Techniques Exhibit are available for purchase.  For glass art sales, please contact our Glass Director Meegan Coll at meegan.coll@gmail.com.  We invite you to click below on the names of the artists included in this exhibition to learn more about their glass art.
