Read & Romp September and October
September 9, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 pm
Join us with your little learner, ages 2-6, for an exciting hour of storytelling, interactive games, and creative crafts in the Museum’s galleries. Read & Romps will be held every other Monday in September and October from 10:30-11:30am. Please see the schedule below.
Each week we will explore a different theme found in the Museum, such as acceptance, respect, kindness, and more. Snacks & Museum admission are included.
Monday, September 9:
Drum City by Thea Guidone
This is a colorful and musical book all about community and the importance of being kind to everyone around you. The kids in this book all gather around to form a drum line made of pots and pans. This craft will have students making their own drums out of toilet paper rolls from the museum.
Monday, September 23
Bunny Cakes by Rosemary Wells>
This book is from the classic series of Max and Ruby and deals with how two people communicate when they are upset with one another in a respectful way. In this book, Max, who cannot yet write, draws photos to help get his message across. Children participate in Pictionary with a twist to see how we all can communicate with our drawings.
Monday, October 7:
Sometimes I’m Bombaloo! By Rachel Vail
This book focuses on what to do when you lose your temper. Becoming Bombaloo is a fun, colorful way a young girl expresses her anger and frustration: Kids will make their own emotion masks.
Monday, October 21
Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson
A Halloween themed book, this story talks about one witch’s flight that keeps having more and more passengers added on. It’s great for the upcoming holiday but also has a strong message of kindness. Water color paint your own broom as a Halloween decoration for the student’s home.
