Big Ideas for Little Learners: Exploring friendship through storytelling
June 9, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join us with your family for an engaging exploration of friendship, acceptance, respect, and kindness. Using puppets, props, and lots of imagination, author and illustrator Staci Schwartz will lead an interactive reading of her book, The New Bear on the Block.
Your child will follow the journey of Mr. Grizzly Bear as he moves into a new neighborhood with many different kinds of animals, experiences some silly mishaps, and relies on an unexpected friend for help. Told through clever, whimsical rhymes, the story will immediately captivate your child, as they discover what it means to be a good friend; learn to embrace change; and recognize the importance of apologizing. Join us with your little learner for this fun exploration of personal liberty – or should we say li-BEAR-ty!
Your family will receive their very own signed copy of The New Bear on the Block and a special Hide-and-Seek Adventure Map of the National Liberty Museum personally designed by Staci. The hands-on map will guide your family throughout the Museum to see different kid-friendly exhibits, which will encourage them to independently apply the lessons learned from Mr. Grizzly Bear’s story.
You can explore the Museum immediately following the interactive reading or return after lunch – your admission is valid until 5:00pm.
This interactive reading is designed for children ages 4-9 with their caregivers. Caregivers must stay with the children, limit 2 caregivers per group. Advance ticket purchase is required. Bring friends and siblings!
