Everyday Instruments Workshop for Kids

June 3, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

In this fun workshop your family will discover that everyday objects can be transformed into musical instruments with a little imagination and creativity.

Soup cans, milk cartons, and paper towel rolls might ordinarily go into the trash or recycling… but what if they could become something new?  Led by a Museum Educator, your child will explore the different ways that found or discarded objects can create music to become instruments of expression. At the end of the workshop, everyone will join together to demonstrate their new creation through a song. This activity is presented alongside Sound + Vision, our current exhibit exploring the relationship between music and visual expression.

Preregistration of participating children is required. This workshop is free with Museum admission (to be paid upon arrival) and is designed for ages 5-10. All ages are welcome to participate. Caregivers must accompany children at all times. Materials are included. Families are welcome to bring additional objects or materials from home if they feel inspired. REGISTER NOW!
