Supporting Our Work
On Wednesday evening, May 25, 2011, more than 300 guests gathered at The Westin Philadelphia Hotel for the National Liberty Museum's 2011 Heroes of Liberty "Founders" Awards Dinner. The dinner recognized some of the generous men and women whose early support and exceptional leadership enabled the Museum to open our doors and serve more than 500,000 individuals in the first decade of our work.
Honorees Jack & Vickie Farber have been passionately involved in the Museum since well before our founding. Today, Jack is Vice Chair of our Board and Vickie is active in our education programs as a committee member and tour guide.
Honorees Bob & Joyce Byers have supported the National Liberty Museum's work since before we opened our doors. Bob was one of the Museum's first Board Presidents.
Honorees Adele & Harold Schaeffer. With Harold's support, Adele's leadership for six years as our Board President has enabled the Museum to mature as an institution and identify exciting areas of future expansion.
Other special guests at the 2011 Dinner included our co-chairs Suzanne & Norman Cohn, Vickie & Jack Farber/ The Farber Family Foundation, Ira Lubert/ The Lubert Family Foundation, Thomas Jefferson University & Hospitals, and Gail & Doug Tozour/Tozour Energy Systems. Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz, Chief Meteorologist for NBC 10.
Another highlight of the evening was the debut of a 5-minute video on the Museum's history and programs, and the exciting direction the Museum is taking in its second decade. View the video.
