Glass Art & Auction
The National Liberty Museum has hosted its spectacular Glass Weekend & Auction every year since our Museum opened in 2000. This event is a major fundraiser for our Museum, drawing support from glass art collectors and artists who understand and appreciate our Museum's mission of using contemporary glass art to represent the fragility of liberty.
Held on Thursday, September 27 – Sunday, September 30, our 2012 Glass Weekend & Auction was a huge success. Weekend guests enjoyed a full itinerary of fun and exciting activities including an opening night party at the beautiful home of Franz Rabauer & Brian Daggett, an inspiring Tribute Dinner honoring collectors Shelby & Bob Ford and Inna & Alex Friedman and artist Therman Statom, visits to several private collections and the new Barnes Museum, a Museum Learning Experience led by Therman Statom, a tour of the Judith Schaechter’s exhibition at the Eastern State Penitentiary and much more.
The highlight of the weekend was our Glass Auction held at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown on Saturday evening, September 29. Over 350 guests joined us as we celebrated the connection between “Liberty and Glass” with bidding on 300 exquisite works of art and a delicious 5-course dinner. Special thanks go to artist Marc VandenBerg for this year’s sponsors’ gifts. We would also like to acknowledge our Platinum Sponsors: Mimi Bernstein, Brian Daggett & Franz Rabauer, Sonepar USA and Doug & Gail Tozour.
