In contrast to the many police and firefighters awards which honor those who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, this annual awards program honors living heroes.  Nominations are received directly from police and firefighter units in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties.  Presentations are made at a ceremony at the Museum attended by dignitaries, community leaders and many courageous public servants and their families.  To provide continued attention to these brave acts, an exhibit highlighting their stories is displayed in the Museum’s Conflict to Harmony gallery.
